متن Listening شروع درس

  • Tape script

1. Dick: Hi, Liz. I'm home.

Liz: Hi, Dick. How was your day?

Dick: Oh, the same as usual. Decent, I guess. Yours?

2. Liz: Good. Actually, you'll never guess who I ran into downtown.

Dick: Who?

Liz: Pat Marshall.

Dick: Really? Wow. It seems like years since we saw her. How's she been?

3. Liz: Not so good. She and Norman were in a car accident about a year ago. Norman was in the hospital for a while, and he lost his job.

Dick: That's too bad. So how are they managing?

4. Liz: Not that well, apparently. Pat's working, and they're getting by, I guess, but things are pretty tough financially. . . . Remember when they lived next door and she took care of the kids when I got sick? She's the kind of person who's always there for you.

Dick: Yeah, she's a gem.

5. Liz: Hey, why don't we invite them over for dinner? I really value Pat's friendship.

Dick: Yeah, I do too. I'm not thrilled about spending time with Norman, though.

Liz.Why not?

Dick: Well, you know. He's kind of pig-headed. He's the type of guy that always has to be right.

6.Liz: Yeah . . . but this is a tough time for them. They need friends. And you know what? We don't see our friends enough.

Dick: Yeah, you're right. Let's give them a call.
